What it is
A research agent that works across your own material rather than the open web. You give it your documents, papers, reports and notes, and it answers questions with the answers grounded in those sources instead of in whatever the model absorbed during training.
Who buys it
Anyone whose real problem is a pile of documents nobody has time to read. Researchers, analysts, consultants working through client material, and teams sitting on years of internal reports they cannot search properly.
How it differs from Foxit on this page
Foxit is PDF software that added an AI assistant, so the AI is a feature on top of an editor. Nouswise is the opposite shape: the research is the product and the documents are the input. What we will test
The nine-task protocol for this category is published on the AI document tools page, and for a grounded research tool one task decides it: we load a body of material we know thoroughly and ask questions we already know the answers to. Then we check every citation it gives us points at a real passage that actually says what it claims.
A tool that answers confidently from its training data while implying it read your documents is worse than one that says it cannot find the answer. That is the specific failure we are looking for, and it scores zero when we find it.
